I was going to wait until Monday to post this, because, seriously – who posts major news announcements on weekends (I’m looking at you Bill Dwight)?!?
So, yes…starting January 24th, you can find us at Valley Free Radio, 103.3FM. We’ll be on Monday through Thursday, 8am to 9am.
The format will be similar to our old show, with a few tweaks: news, interviews, commentaries, etc. Our first guest will be Northampton Mayor Clare Higgins.
The one change I’m personally excited about is that I’ll be playing music. Not a lot of music, but a few songs sprinkled throughout the show to give it a new kick.
If you don’t live within range of VFR’s signal (or don’t own a radio), you can stream the show at their website. And, of course, you can check in here to download podcasts of the show.
Thanks to everyone for all your encouragement over these last few months. We’re looking forward to spending more time with you all!
Join Bill and Jaz at Look Park tomorrow for the 20th annual Transperformance. This year’s theme is “Body Parts.” See how we translate that into costume (don’t worry – there is no chance of us showing up as Slim Goodbody).
This past Saturday we participated in the Laurel Park Chautauqua. We were scheduled between a chat by folks from Pedal People (who nearly stole our audience with the promise of bike trailer rides!), and a performance by members of Rusty Belle. Our special guest was Laurel Park resident and Northampton mayor Clare Higgins, who walked down to the Tabernacle with her dog. It was a gorgeous day, and we had a blast. Thanks to Debbie Way and Kate Richardson for inviting us, and Dan Richardson for handling sound. We can’t wait to do it again!
We run into some friends at Tuesday Market, including Bud Stockwell of Cornucopia Foods and Heavenly Chocolates (which just got a lovely write-up in The Boston Globe). Northampton Parking Czar Bill Letendre proves why he is not your typical government official. We talk to Ben James of Town Farm about his mission to make nutritious, locally grown food available to everyone. We also run into Haley Morgan from Commonwealth Center for Change, who has plans to unleash monsters on the the city…after she makes some earrings.
We apologize for the delay. We ran into some technical difficulties, and we’re still sorting things out. But here, finally, is the latest episode, in which Northampton Mayor Clare Higgins makes her way to the media bunker for a chat about broken (and broke) government, and the announced departure of Northampton School Superintendent Isabelina Rodriguez.
Music in today’s podcast courtesy of No-Shadow Kick. Closing theme by Philip Price of Winterpills. And, of course, The Bill Dwight Show theme song was written and performed by the inimitable Lord Russ.
