Be a part of our live show audience!

We’ll be doing a live taping of the podcast at the Laurel Park Chautauqua tomorrow. We’ll be on around 3:15, with a special guest. The shindig starts at 11am, and it’s free!

Also, tomorrow night there’s a reunion of The Aloha Steamtrain at the Iron Horse. The Aloha Steamtrain features Lord Russ, who wrote and performs the Bill Dwight Show theme song. He doesn’t live around these parts anymore, so it’s good to catch him when he’s around. And, of course, it’s always good to be entertained by those talented Rub Wrongways folks.

The Illustrated Opera

This Sunday at the National Yiddish Book Center in Amherst, you have a chance to catch a unique event. Valley musician Mark Mulcahy has teamed up with cartoonist Ben Katchor for A Checkroom Romance, an illustrated opera. Other Valley musicians are also starring in the show: Ken Mauri, Flora Reed, and Dave Trenholm.

Mark Mulcahy tells us where the idea came from, the process of writing an illustrated opera, and why they couldn’t perform it at one of his favorite spaces.
